The focus here is on what are commonly known as “Soft Skills,” which are core competencies of great importance in a professional context. These include essential skills like communication and negotiation skills, i.e., formulating and defending arguments, withstanding resistance, or changing one’s own views based on feedback from conversation partners. Another crucial skill is the ability to conduct effective and fact-oriented negotiations.
Equally important is the development of empathy, i.e., the ability to put oneself in different scientific, political, cultural, and everyday life perspectives, and to relativize one’s own position accordingly. Strong decision-making and action competence, especially in crisis situations characterized by great uncertainty and high emotional and temporal pressure, is also indispensable. The ability for effective teamwork is expected in school, college, professional environments, and volunteer work. Our simulation games offer participants the opportunity to practice these and other key competencies in a safe environment.
